The Rare Rainbow Art Showcase is a platform for a vibrant virtual experience where LGBTQ+ voices in the rare disease community come alive through creativity. Whether it’s a canvas, a poem, or a live performance, this showcase is a bold celebration of identity, advocacy, and artistic power.
More than an exhibit, this is a movement. Created to uplift queer rare disease advocates and make space for visibility, the Rare Rainbow Showcase brings together artistry, lived experience, and community truth in a way that’s unapologetically raw, radiant, and real.
Why This Showcase Exists
For far too long, LGBTQ+ individuals impacted by rare disease have been underrepresented in public narratives, policy discussions, and creative spaces. This showcase was born from a simple but radical idea:
That every rare story deserves to be seen in full color.
This is a celebration of queer joy and creativity.
Just community. Just truth. Just beauty.
What Makes This Unique
This showcase is not affiliated with or derived from any existing rare disease art programs. The Rare Rainbow Art Showcase was independently developed to center queer perspectives during Pride Month.
Our focus is on intersectionality, visibility, and belonging—celebrating the full spectrum of identities, emotions, and experiences that make up our rare rainbow.
What to Expect
A One-Night-Only Virtual Live Showcase
Experience an unforgettable evening where LGBTQ+ rare disease advocates take the virtual stage to present their original creative works. From stunning visual art and digital designs to poetry, music, and spoken word, each performance tells a powerful story of identity, resilience, and advocacy. This is a celebration of lived experience and the healing power of art.
Real-Time Audience Voting
Be part of the action as the audience votes live to select the Rare Rainbow Artist of the Year. Cast your vote based on connection, creativity, and impact. The winner will receive a custom prize delivered to their door, and runner-ups will be featured across our digital platforms in a special spotlight series.
An Interactive Virtual Gallery
Beyond the live event, visitors can explore a dynamic online gallery showcasing every submitted piece. Each work is paired with the artist’s bio and a short narrative about their rare disease journey and identity. For enhanced accessibility, select works also include optional audio descriptions or captions.
